It might seem counter-intuitive — slowing down to achieve more — but finding ways to slow yourself down so you can more closely examine your thoughts, actions, and behaviours and tune into your intuition brings a witness and presence to your life that is incredibly transformative.
As we slow down, we start to become much more aware of our unconscious patterns and unhealthy habits and how they’ve potentially controlled our lives — and not always for the better. When we can see and observe our habitual patterns, without being consumed by them, something powerful and life-changing happens. We are no longer under their control.
It’s in the observation of our behaviours that gives us the opportunity to change them for the better, and we can allow an awareness to arise within us, only then can we achieve real, meaningful and sustainable change.
We all love to be busy, so this process may be unlike anything you’ve done in the past, but all transformations happen when we are willing to try new things, to let go of what is no longer serving our life and ultimately transform our behaviour.
Easier said than done? Not if you make a conscious effort. For instance, try setting aside time in your schedule during which you will unplug, rest, meditate, read books that inspire you, spend time alone or in nature, start a daily journaling practice.
